Many sources have confirmed to Novi Magazin that the Military Intelligence Agency gave the report to the Parliament.
According to that version, on September 27th, around 9.30 am, KFOR soldiers who had previously blocked the alternative cross-border with Serbia, have been attacked by Zvonko Veselinovic’s criminal group. KFOR forces defended with tear gas and rubber bullets.
“However, around noon a group of approximately thousand people arrived to the border, among whom were the members of Zvonko Veselinovic’s group, armed with guns and wire cutting scissors. KFOR forces asked them to withdraw, but than the quarrels started. This group used a truck as a protection, some driving it towards the barbwire that KFOR has stretched, and others hiding behind it.” – a source of Novi Magazin says.
The intelligence agents also told the members of Parliament that the American KFOR forces stepped out of the barb wire fence which led to quarrels between them and armed Serbs, during which one of the U.S. soldiers even lost his shotgun.
Then the cross fire started. The attackers started running away with the taken shotgun and upon shooting, they used an explosive device that injured several KFOR soldiers. The people who had gathered a bit further from the place of conflict run away after the fire started. Military Intelligence Agency has predicted that KFOR forces would try to take hold of the court in the north of Kosovska Mitrovica and that this moment could be crucial as well, a source of Novi Magazin says. The ones who got injured most probably were not even a part of the armed criminal group, but were nearby.
Military Intelligence Agency could have obtained this information and the precise timeline from KFOR by means of regular military information exchange channels. The fact that these information was presented to the Committee makes them even more credible, as they had to be confirmed first and then given out.
“It has already been said that KFOR had not used the exceeded force against the armless civilians. It is also not true that only four KFOR soldiers have been injured. Nine of them sustained injuries, but luckily only minor ones. That is all I can say, as EULEX is in charge of the investigation.” – says Colonel Frenk Martin the Deputy Head of the Department of KFOR Public Relations.
He could not confirm the information that one gun was taken away from an American soldier.
“All our shotguns are in our hands”, briefly said Martin.
